In Canada, growing older can often rob people of status, a sense of being valued, and even self-respect. On September 20, 2025, I'm walking and fundraising to publicly honour and support aging friends and family. Please, give generously to my campaign by clicking the "Donate Now" button above.
Thank you so much for considering a donation or joining me on our walk to support the Oasis program in Kingston, Ontario. I’d love to share why this cause means so much to me — and why I’ve chosen to walk and raise funds for such an inspiring initiative.
Oasis is more than just a program — it’s a community-powered movement that helps older adults live healthier, more connected lives while remaining in the homes and neighborhoods they love. Born right here in Kingston over 15 years ago, Oasis was co-created by older adults, for older adults — and that’s what makes it truly special.
At its core, Oasis is about aging well — not alone, but together. It brings people together in what’s called a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) — whether that’s an apartment building or a neighborhood — and gives them the tools, support, and opportunities to stay active, independent, and engaged.
The program is built on three powerful pillars: physical activity, good nutrition, and social connection. That may sound simple, but when those things are consistent and accessible, they can completely transform someone’s quality of life. Whether it’s a shared meal, a fitness class, a card game, or a creative workshop — these aren’t just activities. They’re lifelines. They help people feel seen, supported, and truly alive.
For me, supporting Oasis is deeply personal. It was and is my dream job, and not one day goes by that I don’t feel grateful — grateful to do what I love every single day. And the fact that I get to work with older adults makes it even more meaningful. But what’s truly been the most rewarding part of this journey? Knowing that we are helping people to age where they want to be, that we are reducing social isolation, and we are helping people every day!
That’s why I’m walking. That’s why I’m fundraising. And that’s why your support — whether through a donation or simply spreading the word — means so much. Together, we can help older adults continue to thrive in the communities they call home.
