Hello! I am walking to support Oasis, a national project that supports and cultivates supportive communities for seniors to age in place. Oasis brings older adults who already live in close proximity with one another to participate in social gatherings, nutrition programs, and physical activities. The proceeds from this walk will support the funding of on-site coordinators and other resources that help facilitate self-driven living.

As someone who has researched about long-term care (and it's challenging conditions), the reality is that most seniors would prefer to stay at home and maintain independence for as long as possible. Programs like Oasis provide a dignifying alternative where older adults not only have the opportunity to "age in place", but they are provided with opportunities to pursue healthy living in community with others. Everyone, no matter the ability or age, deserves to live with dignity.
