Hello Everyone,
I am writing to request support for an important fundraiser for seniors in my community. Sooke, the small town where I live does not have a Senior’s Centre even though our population has thousands of aging senior residents. A group of us led by The Sooke Regional Community Health Network has been lobbying for years to raise $2 million dollars to build our own centre (we have the land).
Senior centres are vital for communities because they reduce social isolation and combat loneliness, foster physical and mental well-being through activities, education and health resources. They serve as essential hubs that provide older adults with vital resources for healthy aging, maintain a sense of purpose, and create supportive environments that promote senior independence and active engagement with their communities.
On September 20, 2025 folks from across Canada will be participating in The Grand Parade, a nationwide march to raise money benefitting seniors in their towns. Our cause is of course, The Gathering Place…our proposed Seniors Center.
I’ve attached a link for anyone able to please click on and donate to support our walk. My friends and I are walking as The Red Hat Sooke Sirens dressed in red and purple and as much bling as we can wear to draw attention to this worthy cause. There will be feathers!
If you can, please click on the link and support us by pressing on the blue donor button on the top right-hand side. The Red Hats aren’t known as a philanthropic group, but we’ve been especially invited to partake and believe this is very important!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION HOWEVER HUMBLE OR LARGE!!! Every penny counts towards our building.
Sincerely, Deb Bottomley
