Maison de l'amitié is a community center founded in 1974 located in the Plateau-Mont-Royal of Montreal. They support the community in so many ways including language classes, food banks, helping integrate immigrants and refugees, and my favourite part about this little center is the tiny student residence on the third floor that has shaped my experience in this city. Every year there was a new rotation of about 8 students that lived in community upstairs, and we profited from subsidised living as well as access to the other services. We had potluck suppers once a week, and were required to do so many hours of volunteer work each week. Being apart of this community truely helped me survive through the thick of the pandemic, and I made some of the best memories with people I have really come to appreciate.
