I endured an abusive relationship for a number of years, and leaving was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was fortunate to have family and friends who offered safe housing, financial support and compassionate care. Most women fleeing violence do not have that safety net.

Today, I am in a position to support families in crisis through my work at Red Door Family Shelter and by participating in the 2026 Coldest Night of the Year walk.
