It's cold out there. And this February, I'm going to do something about it. Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community. This year it is for Rock Soup Green House and Food Bank!
About Rock Soup Greenhouse and Food Bank
Rock Soup Greenhouse and Food Bank began in 2020 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, with a simple idea: when people share what they have, everyone gets fed. We’re not a typical food bank we’re a free grocery store, greenhouse, kitchen, free café and safe space built on mutual aid and belonging. No forms, no barriers, no judgment. Our greenhouse grows food and traditional medicines year-round; our kitchen serves healthy meals and teaches skills. We are volunteer run by people with disabilities, from all walks of life. We believe food is a right, not a privilege.
Since opening, we’ve supported over 10,000 people, reduced food waste, and strengthened local food systems. Rock Soup is community-powered and built on dignity, inclusion, and reciprocity. Everyone has something to bring to the table and when we all add what we can, there’s always enough to go around.
