It’s cold out there. Like… Edmonton-in-February cold. ❄️
So naturally, I signed up to walk outside on the Coldest Night of the Year. Excellent decision-making, I know.
I’m walking to support Veterans’ House Canada, who are building a 30–40 unit home for veterans who have experienced homelessness, right close to my community. The building is going up now and is expected to open this summer — which means this isn’t just a good cause, it’s a very real one happening near home.
This one’s personal for me. I come from a military family, so supporting veterans isn’t just important — it’s ingrained.
On February 28, I’ll be walking 2.5 km or 5 km (depending on wind, attitude, and how dramatic I’m feeling) as part of the Coldest Night of the Year. There are three walks in the city that night, but the funds from this one stay local and support Veterans’ House Edmonton.
Yes, I will complain about the cold. Yes, I will still finish the walk. Because I get to go home after — and too many don’t.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, moral support, sarcastic encouragement are also welcome. ❤️
