"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up."
- Anne Lamott
When the world is in a state of upheaval, I believe that doing an act of kindness or generosity is even more important. Vital really and in many cases life saving. The photo is of a small encampment that I pass on my morning walk with Georgie-Boy. And while I come home to a warm and safe environment, the folks living here have weathered the storms over the last couple of days.
For well over 10 years, I have been an active participant in Coldest Night of the Year in support of the work of Regeneration Outreach Community. The work they do, which is endless, makes a difference. The last two years I have volunteered rather than walked so I can wear the snappy safety vest. But with the news being so relentless and keeping an eye on the small (and yes harmless) encampment, I am walking once again and shamelessly fundraising to do my small part to help those who are homeless or underhoused living right in my neighbourhood.
Will you consider supporting me to reach it ~ heck maybe even exceed it!
