It’s cold out there. And for many people in our community, winter is more than uncomfortable. It’s unsafe.
Rising rents, food costs, and ongoing uncertainty have pushed more people to the edge. For some, there’s nowhere left to turn. The programs supported by Coldest Night of the Year are often the last line of support before someone is left completely on their own.
In moments when the world feels unsettled, strong communities matter more than ever. This is one way to strengthen ours.
That’s why I’m walking this year.
It’s about people here, our neighbours, in our own community, who need practical help right now. Warm meals. Safe places to go. Outreach workers who know people by name and show up consistently.
We can spend a lot of time reading, posting, and debating online. That awareness matters. But it doesn’t have to stop there. Sometimes concern can turn into action.
A donation here helps turn concern into something real.
If you’re able to give by clicking the donate now button above, thank you.
If you’ve already supported other causes, thank you for caring.
If this is the one you choose, know that it makes a difference locally and immediately.
This is about showing up for each other, especially when things feel uncertain.
Thank you for being part of it. Luke
