Hello everyone,
As many of you know, my family and I have been proud (part-time) residents of Prince Edward County for over a decade.
PEC is rightly celebrated as one of Canada's premier tourist destinations—thanks to its stunning agricultural landscapes, world-class vineyards, exceptional restaurants, and vibrant arts scene.
Yet behind this picture-perfect image lies a quieter reality: Prince Edward County has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in Ontario, with roughly 1 in 4 residents affected. Factors like financial pressures, high housing and living costs, rural isolation, and seasonal employment all contribute to this challenge.
To help make a difference, I'm taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk on February 28 to raise funds for the Picton Food Bank. This inspiring event brings together nearly 20,000 Canadians from coast to coast in a family-friendly winter walk to support local charities tackling hunger, hardship, and homelessness.
We're incredibly fortunate to enjoy everything PEC has to offer and with that comes a responsibility to ensure that everyone who calls it home is supported and not worried about where their next meal will come from, or how they'll feed their family.
If you're able, please consider joining me by donating, walking alongside, or simply sharing this message. Every bit helps.
Cheers,
James/Jamie/Lamont
