Dear Family and Friends,
Many of us are deeply concerned about homelessness in our communities, during these bitterly cold winter months, when the need for safe shelter and support becomes even more urgent.
On Saturday February 28, once again, we will be joining thousands of Canadians across the country by walking and fundraising for Coldest Night of the Year 2026, in support of people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness — most importantly, YOUTH — right here at home. No young person, especially in our Collingwood region, chooses or deserves to be without a safe place to sleep.
In Collingwood, the funds raised support the Barbara Weider House, which is operated by Home Horizon. Home Horizon provides far more than a roof — they offer full, wrap-around care for youth at risk of homelessness. Their dedicated team works 24/7, supporting young people who are couch-surfing, facing family conflict, or navigating crisis. They provide counselling for life skills and job interviews, as well as transportation to medical appointments and job interviews. They also help with essentials, and a safe, stable place to land while they work toward independence and long-term stability.
We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact Home Horizon has on the lives of vulnerable youth, and I truly believe this work deserves our support.
If you’re able to help by making a donation, it would be deeply appreciated.
If you would like to join us for the walk, we would love the company! There is a 2 km or 5 km walk, starting from Trinity United Church at 5:00 p.m. — I’m happy to send you all the details.
Thank you for considering supporting this meaningful cause. Every donation is used wisely and makes a real difference. To join our team or donate, simply copy https://cnoy.w-ith.me/LeeDonMcL scroll down and click on my name Lee McLoughlin.
Together, we can do hard things, and we can all feel proud of being part of something truly life-changing.
