It’s cold out there—and on February 28th, I’ll be walking 5 km in the Coldest Night of the Year.
I’ve participated in this walk before in 2019 and 2020, raising money for those in poverty in Gravenhurst. This year, the team I’ve joined is walking to support Youth Haven in Barrie—a place that is quite literally a lifeline for young people who would otherwise be on the streets.
Youth Haven provides safe shelter, food, counselling, guidance, and real support to youth who are vulnerable and at risk. These are good kids who just need safety, stability, and someone to believe in them. Without places like Youth Haven, many of them would have nowhere to go—and far too many would end up pulled into dangerous situations, bad influences, and cycles that are so hard to escape.
This cause is especially close to my heart because I know someone who is there right now. I’ve seen firsthand the care, encouragement, and support she’s receiving—and how it’s helping her move forward, onward, and upward with her life. Youth Haven isn’t just a shelter. It’s a second chance at life.
That’s why this walk matters. And that’s why your support truly matters.
It would mean so much to me if you would consider donating to help keep Youth Haven’s doors open and their programs running. Your gift helps keep kids off the streets, safe, supported, and pointed toward a better future. Please click the “Donate Now” button above. Any amount makes a real difference.
And yes—as you all know, I’m not exactly the “let’s go walk in freezing weather for fun” type (unless it’s a quick drive to Timmies 😉), so if I’m doing this, you know it’s for something that truly matters.
Thank you so much for your support. 💙
