It's cold out there. And this February, I'm going to do something about it. Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, I'll be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community.
Winter Compassion
When the frost paints the glass and the wind howling,
And the heart of the city is shivering and howling,
Look out for the neighbor who has no warm bed,
With only the pavement to pillow their head.
Bring blankets of wool to hold in the heat,
Thick socks for the cold, tired, and aching feet.
A coat that is heavy, a hat for the ear,
To banish the chill and to banish the fear.
Warm coffee in cups, or a hot bowl of soup,
Drop supplies at the shelter or a kind, caring group.
For the smallest of efforts, a gift, or a hand,
Can help them survive through the cold winter land.
A smile in the darkness, a word that is kind,
Gives warmth to the body and peace to the mind.
When the season is harsh, let your charity flow,
And help them stay warm in the ice and the snow.
