I'm raising money for the Picton United Church Food Bank. Every Thursday morning, with an organization called Food to Share, I help cook 60 or more dinners to deliver to the food bank. When I delivered the meals yesterday (chicken alfredo!), Mark Houghton at the food bank told me that the number of people coming through their doors had risen 47% in the past 6 weeks. I already knew they were seeing heavy, and growing, demand, but this was really striking. Why the big increase? Mark said he thought a lot of people, with rising food prices and unemployment, had just finally hit a wall. I'm sure the bitter cold and increased heating costs also has something to do with it. Please help me support our amazing local food bank in this time of unprecedented demand.
