In a world where many of us move through our days assuming safety, warmth, and a place to rest at night, there are countless women and children who cannot take those simple comforts for granted. Every day, families face the devastating reality of domestic violence—nights spent in fear, mornings filled with uncertainty, and the unimaginable courage it takes to leave everything behind in search of safety.
Imagine trying to sleep without knowing whether tomorrow will bring more pain. Imagine gathering your children, with nothing but the clothes on your back, and stepping into the unknown because staying is no longer survivable. That is the reality for far too many.
This is why I’m walking on Saturday, February 28th, in the Coldest Night of the Year. And this year, it truly feels colder—physically, yes, but also in the weight of what so many in our communities are carrying. Together with thousands of Canadians, and alongside my Meridian colleagues, I’ll be walking to support people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
I’m walking in particular for St. Felix Women’s Shelter in Toronto—an organization I’m actively involved with and deeply believe in. St. Felix offers safety, dignity, and a compassionate path forward for women and children rebuilding their lives after violence.
If you feel moved to support my walk, you can do so through my fundraising page below. Your contribution—whether financial or simply a message of encouragement—means more than you know. Every gesture helps remind women and children that they are not alone, and that their community is walking beside them.
Thank you for your generosity, your spirit, and your heart.
