This Saturday, February 28, I am participating in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) to raise much-needed funds for Capital City Mission, an organization that works tirelessly to support Ottawa's most marginalized citizens.
What is Capital City Mission?
Capital City Mission is a drop-in center that provides meals, Bible studies and also a community for those struggling with poverty, mental health issues, and homelessness in Ottawa’s inner city. Last fall, through Carleton Intervarsity Christian club I was able to volunteer there by preparing and serving a meal as well as talking to the people who were housing insecure.
What is Coldest Night of the Year?
CNOY is a winter walk that takes place across Canada to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Walking in the February cold is a small way to show solidarity with those who don't have a warm place to go when the sun goes down.
I wasn't originally planning on making my own donation page, and was just going to donate myself. However yesterday on Wednesday, an accident took place where a vehicle crashed into Capital City Mission killing a man in his 70s and seriously injuring 3 others there.

With such a tragedy, Capital City Missions definitely needs financial support with repairing the damage and more importantly to continue the work they do for the street community and being a light of Christ to them.
How You Can Help
My goal is to raise $500 to help Capital City Mission continue their essential work during this incredibly difficult time. If you are able, please consider making a donation here, thank you for your kindness and for helping me support a cause that needs it!
