The 2012 Banded Peak Challenge

The 2012 Banded Peak Challenge for Easter Seals Camp Horizon offers an exhilarating experience in a stunningly beautiful setting. This back-country fundraising adventure takes place in Kananaskis Country and begins with a 13.6km bike ride on the Big Elbow Trail. From there, participants hike 5 km to the summit of 9,626ft. Banded Peak. Prizes to be won at outposts along the trail.

Step #1: Register yourself and any team members for the Banded Peak Challenge at the staging area located at the Little Elbow Valley Recreation Area at the end of HWY 66 in Kananaskis Country, on Sautrday July 21st from 5:00am to 10:00am. (Registration fees of $100 for individuals and team captains and $50 for each additional team member applies. You can waive the registration fee by collecting pledges.)

Step #2: Bring your Provincial Health Care Card, registration fee and any collected pledges to the staging area.

Step #3: Review the documents “What to Bring”, “FAQ’s” and “Wildlife Warnings”, on the main website www.bandedpeakchallenge.com

Step #4: Come early to the Registration Area on Saturday, July 21, 2012 with your equipment and don’t forget your Health Care Card number and a helmet!

All participants must provide their provincial Health Care Card number and wear a helmet. The event does not provide mountain bikes or hiking equipment, it is up to the individual to come prepared.

Children, families and outdoor enthusiast will have a great time at this event!

Since 2001 over $391,000 has been raised through this one day event in support of children with disabilities and special needs who attend Easter Seals Camp Horizon each summer. While at Easter Seals Camp Horizon, campers overcome challenges they never imagined possible. For one week, they are not different – kids can just be kids again and both adults and youth cherish the opportunity to make new friends and create support networks that often last a lifetime.
