The Children's Wish Foundation is excited to
partner with the Kimmett Cup 8 for another year.
Since 2014 the tournament has
raised over $250,000 for Children's Wish, granting over 25 wishes!
Meet Ryan, your 2016 Kimmett Cup
Teammate!
Ryan LOVES hockey. At 16, Ryan plays right wing on his
recreational hockey team, plays NHL 15 on his PlayStation and watches NHL on TV
all the time. You could say he lives and breathes for the game. Like most
typical boys his age, his favourite food is pizza and he likes any comedy that
has Will Ferrell or Ben Stiller in it. He also plays soccer and is trying out
for running back on high school football team. Born in Vancouver, he has a soft
spot for the Canucks but his real favourite hockey team is The Calgary Flames. Ryan is an active teenager who loves sports
and the spirit of the good ole hockey game.
At one month old, Ryan was admitted into
hospital and it was discovered he had two congenital heart defects. He then had
emergency open heart surgery that lasted 12 hours. After much recovering, Ryan
was able to leave hospital at a few months old. Since then he has had two
angioplasties and a stunt put in that will need to be replaced for growth
purposes in the next year or two. Despite all of this, Ryan continues to be
able to be active and play like any child should have the chance to. His family
considers themselves to be very lucky with all that they have been
through!
Ryan’s most heartfelt wish comes with no
surprise. His wish is to attend the 2016 All-Star hockey events in Nashville
this coming winter. Along with the events that go along with the game, his
family intends to check out the many sites that music city has to offer. Since
Ryan is such a fanatic, he knows all the stats of many of the best players and
hopes to see some of his favourites like Shea Weber, Tyler Seguin and Jonathon
Toews. This will be an amazing chance for Ryan to enjoy the game he loves, with
the people he loves!
Ryan is the perfect example of having a
positive spirit no matter what happens and when he grows up, he wants to
continue to pursue his dreams and love of hockey by becoming a general manager
for an NHL team. Sounds like he is on the right track!
