Hemophilia Walk (Bay Area, CA)

HFNC is a volunteer, non-profit organization serving the needs of persons with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders. It is dedicated to the treatment and cure of hemophilia, related disorders, and their complications, including HIV infection. It strives to encourage and promote treatment, provide education, promote outreach and advocate for the families of those affected by bleeding disorders and their complications.

Operated continuously since its founding in 1958, the Hemophilia Foundation of Northern California (HFNC) provides comprehensive resources that change the lives of Bay Area people living with bleeding disorders. HFNC improves the quality of life of all those affected through direct service, community building, and education. Each year HFNC serves roughly 3,000 Bay Area residents and their families. While unique in the program it provides, HFNC works closely with a number of partners to best meet the needs of its constituents, including all of the area’s Hemophilia Treatment Centers such as UCSF and Oakland’s Children’s Hospital. Largely driven by a remarkably active volunteer Board of Directors since its inception, HFNC have a staff of three. HFNC supports itself through a diverse array of fundraising efforts, including events, individual solicitations, and grants from corporate and private foundations.

HFNC hopes to broaden our name recognition and make more people in the Bay Area aware of bleeding disorders through participating with NHF in the 2011 Walk. It is also our goal to increase our revenue and nurture on-going relationships with new financial supporters for our work.
