In May, I was honored to join the board of The WAVE Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Seattle dedicated to ending relationship abuse and sexual violence through community, awareness, education and empowerment. I’ve been involved in this organization for over 10 years in various capacities, from volunteering to marketing consulting. I couldn’t be more excited to join the board of this amazing group of men and women, and contribute my marketing skills to accelerating our mission and making an impact in the lives of so many people effected by domestic violence.
I’m also both humbled and proud to work for Microsoft, a company with a deep rooted commitment to Philanthropy. It's part of our culture, and one more way we live our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. One thing I love about Microsoft is that our philanthropic strategy is largely employee driven, supporting a mission to enable employees to make a greater impact through personal giving. That's why Microsoft matches monetary contributions dollar-for-dollar, and volunteer time at $25 per hour, up to $15,000 every calendar year.
Bringing personal and work passions together, I’m spearheading a Microsoft Team to participate in the 12th Annual Cycle & Walk the WAVE event at Gas Works Park on September 7th. I’ll be leading a team on the 3-mile walk! We want to raise awareness about the societal impact of sexual assault and domestic violence, and help The WAVE Foundation expand the reach of Discover Your Power. This program empowers young people with information and tools to transform societal norms in the future.
