It's cold out there. And on February 25, we are going to be walking in support of women and children facing domestic violence. The organization we are walking with is called Airdrie P.O.W.E.R., a Day shelter dedicated to supporting women as they regain autonomy and begin the lengthy process of rebuilding their lives.

The Day Shelter in Airdrie is a model of support that seeks to meet the needs of these families by offering a wide range of resources to women, while assisting them on every step of their journey through advocacy and personalized plans of readiness.

Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. recognizes that every individual who comes through their doors is unique, and so the goal is to meet them as they are. Not as a statistic, but as people. Not as failures, but as victims of violence who are often without the resources they need to safely leave.
