It's cold out there. And on February 24, we are going to do something about it. Together with other people across America, we're walking and fundraising to support and serve people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in our community. Please, give generously by clicking the "Donate Now" button above, or register to join us on the walk!
Join us for the Coldest Night of the Year
Five St. Croix Valley charities have joined forces to host the Coldest Night of the Year, a winterrific family-friendly walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Funds raised through this collaborative event will be split equally amongst the participating charities to advance their mission of helping the less fortunate in our communities.
Participating charities include:
Hudson Backpack Program: (Since 2007, they have provided food and basic items for daily living to anyone experiencing food insecurity in St. Croix County, including students from Pre-K to 12th grade in the Hudson School District. 42,000 community members were served last year alone, including the 500 students receiving backpacks each week).
Operation HELP: (For more than 40 years they have provided aid to over 2,000 individuals in St. Croix County annually who need help in a variety of ways including: emergency rent, utility, and car repair assistance; access to personal care supplies, diapers, gas, and clothing vouchers; temporary emergency shelter; and nutrition).
Grace Place: (For the past 8 years, they have provided temporary shelter and support services to low-income individuals and families in St. Croix and Pierce Counties. Grace Place promotes self-sufficiency by providing a safe environment and opportunities to develop the necessary skills for independent living).
Our Neighbors' Place: (Provides direct resources to people in need through its Day Center, affordable clothing through its Closet Thrift Store, food and vouchers through its Backpack Program, and transitional housing and case management for homeless families. Serving both Pierce and St. Croix Counties for the past 15 years).
River Valley Charities: (Main event host and coordinator). For the past 8 years, RVC has provided a multi-faceted support system to various direct-service nonprofit charities in the St. Croix valley who have a shared mission to alleviate food insecurity in our local community).
