Why Support The Coldest Night of the Year?

Farmer's Almanac referred to winter 2025 as the "Winter with a Heart of Cold". They said the winter will be colder than normal in central Canada, and that the precipitation will be above average throughout Southern Ontario. CNOY picks statistically the coldest night for all of us to go out and experience a small taste of what its like to be out in the cold. This year in Ottawa, more than 1400 young (age 16-20) people will face the coldest, darkest, and harshest months of the year with no place to call home. Sadly, the winter months are not the only battle for youth experiencing homelessness in Ottawa. Many are suffering from trauma, mental health issues, poverty, addiction, and other challenges that contribute to homelessness. Housing a young person is THE opportunity to stop the cycle of homelessness into adulthood.

The charity we are supporting this year is the Ottawa Youth Services Bureau.

Ottawa YSB helps provide critical services such as mental health resources, community & private housing, employment, and youth justice services to those in need. In addition, YSB also provides programs with a focus and safe space for members of the 2SLGBTQ community. These programs are critical to saving the lives of many affected in our city and we would love your support.
