Welcome to "Miles between Generations" page!
I have had the privilege to learn from both younger and older generations through research, travel, and life. Since joining the Oasis team in 2024, I have been involved in research that highlights incredible benefits Oasis brings to older adults.
That is why I am proud to lead this walk as one of the Team Captains for Kingston - Oasis Communities for Aging Well, alongside my colleague and second-in-command, Andrew. Haha😊
I chose our team’s name, Miles between Generations, not only because of my own path, where I have had the chance to work with both younger and older populations, but also because this walk is about more than just the distance we cover. Growing older in Canada can often lead to social isolation, with many older adults feeling disconnected from their families and communities. Oasis helps close these gaps by creating social connections, encouraging physical activity, and improving access to nutritious food. These are key to helping older adults stay connected, healthy and live independently.
Through this walk, we are honouring our aging family and friends and challenging the isolation that can come with growing older.
Every step we take helps close the miles (kilometers) between generations and moves us toward a community where aging is met with dignity, inclusion, and respect.
We are walking to raise funds that support older adults in our community. Please bring your family and friends of all ages and join us on September 20, 2025, at MacDonald Park (2 King Street West, Kingston).
If you can, please support our team, whether by walking or donating. Every step and every dollar make a difference!
