This fall, my family and I will be taking part in the Ride for Refuge, again, to raise money for a charity that's close to my heart.

​I had been volunteering for COMPASS Refugee Centre for a few years before I started working there as a caseworker. I have seen first-hand the horrors that people have to face, the dangers they have to go through, the fear and uncertainty they have to navigate, all in search for a SAFE place to call home. No one FLEES their home, their culture, their family and all they've ever known, unless they absolutely have to. No mother chooses to risk it all, unless she knows it is what's best for the future of her child. People don't CHOSE this life. They do it, because they have to. Out of survival. Out of necessity. And every person that choses Canada as their safe place, deserves to be welcomed with open arms.

At COMPASS - that is what we do. We welcome folks with open arms, and we guide them as they navigate the complexities of the refugee process. We safeguard their dignities, we empower them to start their new lives free of judgement. It is an absolute honour to be able to do this for people. 

But to continue doing this work we need YOUR help. COMPASS is completely donor-funded!!! We do not receive ANY support from the government. We are a non-profit organization that provides all of our services for free to our clients, and without your support we could not do this.
