Who can walk?

Only men can register to walk, but we know from experience that women play a huge part in this event by challenging men to take part, donating funds to the cause, and cheering them on during the event. Women interested in organizing their team of men can register at the Womens' Coach Club.

Where do I get the shoes?

We have a wide selection of shoes available to fit any size of feet. After you check-in at the event you will be prompted to select a pair of shoes that suit your personality.

Do I really walk a MILE in heels?

By registering for the event you have agreed to walk in heels, but the distance is not actually a mile. There will be a marked event route at Sir Winston Churchill Square.

What happens if it snows?

The YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES fundraising event will take place rain, snow or shine. Come prepared for any weather...this is Edmonton after all.

How do I make a donation?

You can make a donation to the walk's general fund, a team, or to a specific walker. Search for an individual or switch tabs to search for a team. Donations made online will immediately be applied to the individual's fundraising goal.

What if I have cash or cheque donations?

Cash or cheque donations are considered "Offline Donations".Offline donors must complete the offline donation form in order to receive a tax receipt. The form must be complete and legible.

Registered participants, enter any offline cash and/or cheque donations through your dashboard so that these offline donations are reflected online in your total raised.

Please bring your completed offline donation forms with the cash or cheque donations to the YWCA or to the event. Please do not mail cash.

Where do we check-in on the day?

The check-in location at Churchill Square will be clearly posted. Volunteers are also available to give directions and answer your questions.

What should I wear?

Many people come before work and we love to see men pair their heels with their work clothing/uniforms. Visit the Photo Gallery to view pictures from last year's walk.

How do I create or join a team?

The registration form will prompt you to join, create a team, or register as an individual.

Where does my donation go?

Your donations provide direct opportunities for women and children to move from crisis to stability, through the programs and services that the YWCA Edmonton provides.

Tax receipts?

The YWCA Edmonton is a registered charity (#10822 7935 RR0001). When you make a donation of $20 or more you will receive a tax receipt.
