Frequently Asked Questions….

Q: I have completed my online registration. How can people find my page?
A: Your friends will be able to access your personal fundraising page from the link that is included in the email that you send them from your fundraising tab. The general public can find your page by searching for you by name using the Individual and Team Search tool found on the event home page. If your name does not show up during a search, log onto your personal fundraising page, click Profile on the left menu, and then verify that the “Allow the general public to sponsor you” checkbox is checked.

Q: What if I don’t have email addresses for all the people that I want to reach?
A: Do you have a Facebook account? If you do then you can create a personalized fundraising page on Facebook that you can share with your friends who in turn can share it with others. To create your Facebook page simply click Fundraising  SHARE YOUR PAGE.

Q: Will my donors receive tax receipts?
A: Yes, an online donation made via major credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express) will automatically generate a tax receipt which will be sent to the email address provided.

Q: I have received cash from a friend in support of my campaign. What do I do with it?
A: You can enter cash donations that you receive in person under the Manage Cash or Cheque section (Fundraising  Manage Cash or Cheque).

Q: Will my cash donors receive tax receipts as well?
A: In order for Chalice to issue a tax receipt for a cash donation, you need to include the full name, postal address, and email address of the donor when entering the donation in the Manage Cash or Cheque section. Please ensure that when you submit the money to Chalice the total amount of money pledged matches the total amount of cash and cheques that you collected.

Q: I have entered a donation under “Manage Cash or Cheque”, but it is not showing in my donor listing. What could be causing this?
A: Check to make sure that when you entered the donation information, the two checkboxes at the bottom of the page were checked. The first checkbox reads “Display my name on the donor listing” and the second one reads “Display my donation amount on the donor listing”. If necessary, you can delete the donation and re-enter it.

Q: I can’t send cash in the mail. Is there a way that I can give the money to Chalice without driving to your office?
A: Yes, you can coordinate with Joanne Albrecht (joannealbrecht@chalice.ca) to mail a cheque to Chalice in the amount of cash you collected. Alternatively, you can also “pay” cash donations with a credit card*. To pay a cash donation via credit card, select the donation in the Manage Cash or Cheque section and click Pay. You will be led to a page where you can complete a secure online transaction.
*Note – if your donor wishes to receive a tax receipt for a cash donation that you paid with your credit card in this fashion, you need to send a letter/email to Chalice verifying who the true donor is.

Q: My friend tells me that she made a contribution to my campaign, but I can’t see the donation anywhere. What could be causing this?
A: There are a couple of possible explanations:
1) Your donor may have unchecked the “Display my name on the donor listing” checkbox on the donation information page.
2) Your donor may have made a donation to the general page fund rather than making it on your personal fundraising page. If you suspect this is the case, you can email your Chalice administrator to have the donation reassigned so that it is included in your personal fundraising total. Please include your name, the donor’s name, the donation amount, and the name of the campaign.

Q: Part of my fundraising total is listed as “unverified”. What does this mean?
A: Unverified donations are those that have been entered in the Manage Cash or Cheque section. It simply refers to those cash and cheque donations that have yet to be processed through Chalice’s finance department.

Q: I received an email notifying me that someone posted a message on my message board, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Where do I look?
A: After signing onto your personal fundraising page, click the Fundraising button. At the top of the next page, click Manage Sponsors and then scroll down to the bottom to view your message board posts.
