Liam's Light

Liam is a bright child, who was born with Caroli’s Disease a rare life threatening illness which effects the kidneys and liver. Eventually it is expected that Liam’s organs will shut down and he will need a combined liver and kidney transplant. As a result Liam’s parents started a fundraising effort called Liam’s Light in 2001 to aid research into inherited kidney and liver disease at The Hospital for Sick Children. In 2006 they officially opened the Liam’s Light Step Down Unit on 6A. This unit is a vital recovery unit for children who have recently been transplanted.
