$10 will make a difference . . .

Ten dollars. No matter your income, it's not "nothing". It's two 4L jugs of milk, parking at work, a new toque to replace the one your child lost at school yesterday. It's chipping in for a going-away gift, lunch when you didn't have time to make something at home, money for a tire repair you weren't expecting.

As necessary as it is for you to spend that $10, imagine not having $10 in the first place. For thousands of people in Winnipeg, and for more than 100 agencies supported by United Way, $10 is everything.

Right now, your gift is critical. To reach this year's goal of $20.4 million - a very real number based on the amount required to maintain a network of more than 100 programs and services right here in Winnipeg - we're counting on a groundswell of support from Winnipeggers just like you.

10-4 Winnipeg! Change a life by giving as little as $10 below.

What can $10 do?

$10 will provide an average of four kids in an after school art program with a fresh and healthy snack - often their only evening meal – over three nights.

$10 will help inspire a love of learning and creativity for one child in Winnipeg by providing a week of free arts classes in a safe environment.

$10 is enough to supply groceries for a Make ‘n Take program that teaches families how to cook using wholesome ingredients on a budget, and allows two families to bring home dinner.

What can $25 do?

$25 is enough for one child to stay active and learn water safety by participating in an eight-week swimming program.

$25 will provide seven young Winnipeggers in crisis with 24-hour access to food for an entire month to help meet their basic needs so they can work through their problems.

$25 will create opportunities for a United Way agency partner to offer free voice mail and phone services that will help approximately 50 Winnipeggers in low-income situations find jobs, housing, healthcare and someone who will listen.

What can $50 do?

$50 will create opportunities for one woman in a low-income situation to obtain valuable skills, experience and references with a week of on-the-job retail training.

$50 will feed one child in a drop-in program once a week for an entire year, fueling their appetite for learning.

$50 will help one child with a disability get off the sidelines, onto the ice, and into the game of sledge hockey by equipping them with a helmet and mouthguard – safety essentials a family may not be able to afford otherwise.
