PRIVACY POLICY GoodLife Kids Foundation’s (GLKF) commitment to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is addressed in this policy. We want you to understand why we collect your personal information, how the confidentiality of this information is protected, and how you can find out what information concerning you is recorded. ACCOUNTABILITY - GLKF is responsible for your personal information under its control. We have appointed a Chief Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with this Privacy Policy (contact information below). PERSONAL INFORMATION is information about you as an individual and includes information that identifies you and that can be used to contact you. This includes such information as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number, banking information, and credit card number. GLKF collects personal information for the following purposes: When you register for GLKF events or fundraising campaigns or enter into a contest; To send you updates and information about events you have registered to participate in; To send you a tax receipt when you make a donation; To thank you for your participation/donation and send you information about upcoming events/campaigns/contests; To draw for and contact our contest winners. GLKF does not: Collect personal information about you unless you choose to provide it to us.; Transfer your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Any personally identifiable data about our customers or website visitors is stored securely; Collect personal information about children (under 18 years of age) without the express, positive consent of their parent or guardian. We will not use or disclose your personal information for any purpose other than those for which it was collected, except with your consent or as required or authorized by law. We do not sell or trade your personal information, swap mailing lists or share donor information with other parties. GLKF uses the services of Artez Interactive to capture credit card transactions and issue eTax Receipts, employing a process that is approved by Canada Revenue Agency. GLKF employs Moneris to provide payment services. In the event of unauthorized use of your credit card, you must notify your credit card provider in accordance with its reporting rules and procedures. You will not receive marketing e-mail from GLKF unless you have consented to receive it. We do not send ‘spam’ (unsolicited marketing email). In every online communication we will afford you the opportunity to elect to unsubscribe. PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION - When you post content to GLKF’s website, some information about your account and your account activity will be provided to other users of GLKF’s website. This may include the date, posted information, and your username. Any content that you submit to GLKF’s website may be redistributed through the internet and other media channels and may be viewed by other users or the general public. YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND CONSENT are required for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information. When you register for an event or a contest or make a donation, you consent to the use of your personal information for the purposes listed above. You may refuse or withdraw your consent at any time; however, we may not then be able to provide you the opportunity to participate in our events or contests. We will advise you when you refuse or withdraw your consent of the impact that will have on what we are able to provide. DIGITAL MARKERS are resources created by the visitors’ browser in order to remember certain pieces of information for the Web server to reference during the same or subsequent visit to the Website. When your computer requests a GLKF Web page, GoodLife Kids Foundation collects the following types of information for Web analytics: originating IP address; date and time of the request; type of browser used; and page(s) visited. GLKF uses Google Analytics and the information collected is disclosed to Google Inc., an external third-party service provider. Your IP address is anonymized prior to being stored on the service provider’s servers in order to help safeguard your privacy. The information collected is de-personalized by truncating your IP address. No personally identifying information is recorded or provided to Google. Google Analytics uses “session” and “persistent” cookies; persistent cookies are stored on your computer and expire two years after your last visit to the Website. For further information, consult the Google Analytics’ privacy policy directly. You may opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics by disabling or refusing the cookies, by disabling JavaScript within your browser (please refer to your vendor’s browser instruction guide). GLKF WILL ONLY RETAIN your personal information as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. MAINTAINING ACCURACY and completeness of your personal information is something GLKF strives to do. You may ask us to delete or correct information contained in your file by written request to our Chief Privacy Officer. YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IS SECURE within GLKF. We have comprehensive security controls to protect against unauthorized access, use, alteration, duplication, destruction or disclosure. We protect your personal information by using safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Each of our employees is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all personal information to which they have access. We keep our employees informed about our policies and procedures for protecting personal information. Where necessary, our employees are required to sign agreements to keep your personal information confidential. REQUESTS FOR ACCESS to information in your file should be directed to GLKF’s designated Chief Privacy Officer. The Chief Privacy Officer is also responsible for ensuring that the Policy requirements and related procedures are being met. All inquiries or complaints regarding privacy should be directed in writing to the Chief Privacy Officer by mail or e-mail at the addresses below. All inquiries will be responded to within thirty (30) days from the date on which our Chief Privacy Officer has received the inquiry. GLKF can refuse access to a file in certain circumstances. FrontStream collects the data you submit through this Internet-based tool (personal information, answers to survey questions, donor data, etc.) and distributes it to GoodLife Kids Foundation.
