Mégane Fortin, 12 ans, est une patiente des Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants — Canada. Cette jeune fille de Mansfield-et-Pontefract (QC) vivra l`expérience d’une vie en octobre prochain alors qu’elle représentera son hôpital local lors du tournoi des Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants , un événement officiel du PGA TOUR à Las Vegas au Nevada.(https://www.shrinershospitalsopen.com).

Mégane a été choisie à travers le pays, comme l’une des 22 patients ambassadeurs, afin de représenter le réseau des hôpitaux au tournoi où elle agira comme porte-étendard tout au long du week-end, transportant les pointages des golfeurs professionnels qui prendront part à ce tournoi. C’est une rare opportunité de voir l’envers du décor d’un événement du PGA TOUR, ainsi qu’une excellente occasion de partager comment les Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants ont contribué à changer sa vie

À propos de Mégane

Mégane, âgée de 12 ans, est une patiente des Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants — Canada depuis déjà six ans. Mégane est née avec l’hydrocéphalie. Elle a subi sa première chirurgie à l’âge de deux jours et plusieurs autres chirurgies par la suite. Vers l’âge de deux ans, elle à été diagnostiquée avec une paralysie cérébrale. À l’âge de six ans, elle fut référée à l'Hôpital  Shriners pour enfants — Canada. Elle a été opérée pour une radicellectomie sélective. Cette chirurgie a réduit la spasticité dans ses jambes et a donné une meilleure qualité de vie à Mégane. Elle a passé six semaines en réadaptation. Tous les jours, elle devait passer de longues heures en physiothérapie et en ergothérapie. Mais les meilleurs moments furent passés dans la salle de jeux.

Mégane habite avec ses parents et ses quatre frères à Mansfield-et-Pontefract, une petite municipalité située dans la province du Québec au Canada. Elle est  passionnée des chevaux et elle a même gagné plusieurs rubans dans des compétitions équestres. Ses passe-temps préférés sont l’équitation, la natation, le ski alpin, le dessin et la lecture.

Mégane Fortin, 12 years old, a patient at Shriners Hospitals for Children— Canada, from Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Quebec, Canada, will have the experience of a lifetime in October when she represents her local hospital at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (www.shrinershospitalsopen.com), an official PGA TOUR event in Las Vegas this October.

Mégane was chosen as one of 22 patient ambassadors throughout the country to represent the hospital network at the tournament, where she will serve as a standard bearer throughout the weekend, carrying the scores of professional golfers as they compete in the tournament. It is a rare “inside the ropes” opportunity at a PGA TOUR event, as well as the chance to share how Shriners Hospitals have helped transform her life

About Mégane

Mégane is 12 years old and has been a patient at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada for 6 years already. Mégane was born with hydrocephaly, and she had her first surgery when she was only 2 days old, and many more followed.

When she turned 2 years old she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Later on, at 6 years old, she was referred to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada where she had surgery for a selective radicellectomy. This surgery helped reduce the spasticity in her legs and gave Mégane a better and improved quality of life.

She then endured six weeks of intense rehabilitation. Every day she spent long hours in physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Her efforts were rewarded when she went to the playroom after and had lots of fun!

Mégane lives with her parents and her four brothers in Mansfield-et-Pontefract, a small municipality located in the province of Québec, Canada. She is passionate about horses, and loves horseback riding, and she has won many ribbons in equestrian competitions. Her favorite hobbies include horseback riding, but also swimming, skiing, drawing and reading.
