Restore our Heritage Capital Campaign
Established in 1911, Lighthouse Mission has a rich heritage of helping Winnipeg's less fortunate. The heart of the Mission began with a burden to provide both spiritual care and immediate needs to those who fell on hard times, and that is still the heart of the Mission 110 years later.
Today, the Mission wants to better serve Winnipeg's downtown community by maximizing their space at 667 & 669 Main Street. Without significant renovations, over 50% of the interior remains unusable, and limits the amount of people helped. Because of the historical significance of the buildings, care must be taken to ensure proper guidelines are met during renovation, which comes at an increased cost.
With the help of a local architect specializing in historical buildings, we have set out a plan and are dreaming big! Big dreams come with big price tags, but we know the impact we can have is even bigger!
The first step in this BIG PLAN is the installation of an Automatic Fire Suppression System. Fire is one of the highest risks to the continued survival of both our buildings. According to the building industry National Fire Protection Association Standard 914, an automatic fire suppression system is the most important measure that will reduce the risk of a catastrophic fire. This will open the doors to the next step of renovating the main floor at 667 Main so that we can expand our dining room area to serve more people and build more relationships within our community and impact more lives.
