Donations to the Global Sickle Cell Disease Network (GSCDN) help the network to come together to develop research studies that will assist in clarifying the scope of the problem of Sickle Cell Disease around the world; determine the most effective, efficient ways to treat the disease, especially in low-income settings; and establish clinical and research coordinating care centres within Africa through which this work can take place. These centres will facilitate local and regional training, infrastructure development, needs assessments and priority setting. Through the GSCDN researchers and clinicians from around the world are working together to bring about real change.
