Dear friends, it has been a whirlwind of a year for all of us. While the pandemic has taken its toll on so many of us, it has also offered me silver linings: an unprecedented period of living in one place (North Hatley Quebec) Covid Concerts with my family when we were in a bubble during the Spring months, and learning how to play harmonica and piano. I have also joined Singing with Parkinsons which is a weekly highlight.
This disease is insidious. However, thanks to the support of family, friends and an amazing community of PSWs and medical teams, I am facing it with as much grace as I can muster. Pandemonium will be my 6th solo exhibition and thus far. I have raised over $100K for research and support to PD organizations in Canada and around the world.
Painting remains my purpose and passion. My 6th show Pandemonium is a series of paintings that emerged during the beginning of this pandemic and carried me through the summer. I hope you’ll take the time to visit my website kevinwhitaker.art. It is being created for me by an old friend who, like so many of you, has reappeared in my life. Marie and I are truly grateful for the support you have shown us over the past two years. We hope you too are finding silver linings amidst the chaos.
With your ongoing help and generosity, I am aiming to reach the ambitious goal of raising $200K to support a fellowship at Sunnybrook Hospital for research into Lewy Body Dementia, a form of Parkinson’s Disease. In October 2019 , I attended my 40th Phys Ed reunion as part of Queen's Homecoming weekend. While there, I presented a commission to Queen's University which now hangs in the new Phys Ed Centre, recently renamed the School of Kinesiology and Health. Thank you to all my Queen's friends who have supported this endeavour.
