About Mud Run for Heart

What is the Mud Run for Heart?

Taking place on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Poley Mountain in Sussex and Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Centre plein air Mont Farlagne in Edmundston, Mud Run for Heart lets you live a little differently for a day, tossing the need to tiptoe around puddles or wipe your filthy feet. Jump right in for a fantastic 5k or a fabulous 2k Family Mud Run, presented by NB EMS; sign up as a team full of friends or go your heat solo. It’s a mountain of obstacles, bottom to top – designed for maximum muddiness and ridiculous fun. And remember, all funds raised remain in the province to help support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.

Make it the focus of your 2017 corporate team building day.

If you can't make it over an obstacle, someone will be there to help you persevere. This event is about overcoming challenges, team building and sharing an incredible experience… all while helping a great cause.

100% of the proceeds raised from this event stay in New Brunswick!

Will I be timed?

The Mud Run for Heart will only time competitive waves. The Competitive vs. Recreational waves are to separate those that want to challenge their fellow Mud Run for Heart participants. The feeling of accomplishment when you finish the Mud Run for Heart course is our goal for every participant.

What happens on race day?

Come about 1 hour before your wave starts.

Bring photo-ID and go to Registration. We’ll provide your Mud Run for Heart kit with Mud Run for Heart bandana.

Warm up, be well hydrated, and be at the start line 15-20 minutes before your wave starts.

All participants are required to sign a waiver.

Every finisher will also receive a medal.

Parking

Free parking is available on-site.

Spectators

There will be numerous sites available to view all the action. Details available on the day from event staff.

How much is the registration fee?

Regular Registration: $75 or fundraise $150
Family Mud Run: $30 per participant or fundraise $60

These fees include taxes and on-site parking. There are no online processing fees. We’ve done the research and feel our fee is comparable (and in many cases less) than other, similar events.

What will I get for my registration fee?

An unbelievable experience that will challenge and inspire you. And a finisher’s medal and Mud Run For Heart bandana for you to wear during the race. Plus the feeling that you’ve helped a charity raise funds for an important cause that will stay in New Brunswick. Priceless!

Since this is for a charity, will I receive a tax receipt for my registration fee?

No, we are unable to provide a receipt because your fee is in exchange for an experience, which is different than a donation. However, if you choose to fundraise in addition to paying your registration fee (which we hope you will), we will provide tax receipts for your supporters – and to you if you donate to yourself.

Do I have to fundraise?

No, but we would love for you to raise additional funds. Mud Run for Heart is the only charity event of its kind. Where other obstacle events donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, 100% of the funds raised at the Mud Run for Heart stay in New Brunswick. The more money we can raise the better.

Can we enter as a team?

Yes, just appoint a team captain to first create a team for the event. Then all members can register individually under that team. The Mud Run for Heart encourages participants to complete the course with friends and help them over obstacles.

Is there a team discount?

No. We do feel our fee is reasonable as no additional fees or HST is charged. This is an extremely important event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, so we are trying to raise as much money as possible. Remember, all the funds raised from this event stay in New Brunswick.

How big/small do teams have to be?

A team can be as big or as small as you’d like. This event is about overcoming challenges, team building, and sharing an incredible experience… all while helping a great cause.

What if it’s raining?

It will be muddier! The Mud Run for Heart will take place rain or shine, unless canceled due to events or circumstances beyond the control of the organizers.

What should I wear?

Our goal is to make sure participants have the best time possible, so wear something comfortable.

Participants should also consider bringing a towel to wipe the mud off for the ride home.

How long will it take to complete the course?

A 5 km obstacle event is not the same as a 5 km run on pavement; it takes considerably longer and it’s a lot tougher. Participants can expect to take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to complete the course. An average completion time is a little over an hour.

The Family Mud Run is a 2 km course, which should take less time to complete than the full course. This depends upon the speed of participants, and how much time is spent playing in the mud.

What if I can't complete an obstacle? Can I still do the event?

If you can’t complete the obstacle we have volunteers at each obstacle to help guide you. If you still can’t complete it, you can go around it.

How challenging is Mud Run for Heart?

With obstacles and challenging terrain, the Mud Run for Heart is not for people with serious medical conditions. The obstacles are meant to be fun and challenging.

The Family Mud Run is a 2 km version of the full course, intended to be suitable for parents and children ages 5-13.

How should I train for Mud Run for Heart?

A combination of cross training, running/jogging and other endurance activities will certainly help you get ready for the Mud Run for Heart.

I am unable to attend Mud Run for Heart. Is it possible to get my money back?

Unfortunately, the Mud Run for Heart does not issue any refunds.
