What is the Indy Cycle Challenge?
It is an exclusive chance for cycling enthusiasts to experience the Honda Indy Toronto race track like never before. This closed track features a 2.89km lap that passes the Prince's Gates, BMO Field and offers scenic views along the Lakeshore.
This event has two Challenge options: 10KM and 25KM Time Trials!
When is the Indy Cycling Challenge?
July 13, 2017 at the Exhibition Grounds (Toronto) – registration opens at 2pm and the first race will start at 4 p.m.
How many laps do I ride?
Each rider will race in either the 10KM Challenge (4 laps - 11.6KM) or the 25KM Challenge (9 laps - 26.1KM)
What are the differences between the race categories?
There are 2 Indy Cycling Challenges to choose from:
10KMChallenge (4 laps - 11.6KM) This race features 2016 Indy 500 Champion Alexander Rossi!
25KM Challenge (9 laps - 26.1KM) This features former Olympic cyclist - Curt Harnett
How much is it to participate and how much must we fundraise?
The cost is $250 per cyclist. Every donation over $20 will be issued a tax receipt.
(Registration fee does not qualify for a tax receipt)
Each cyclist must raise $1,000
How much do I have to fundraise?
Each cyclist must raise $1,000 mimium.
How do I fundraise?
PCC is here to support you with your fundraising efforts. Upon registration you will be set up with an online fundraising page. Share this link with your friends and family to let them know that you are taking on the Indy Challenge! Additional support will be available as the event approaches.
What happens if we are unable to raise the $1,000 minimum?
If your team is unable to raise the $1,000 minimum participants will be able to continue fundraising for the chance to qualify for the 2018 and 2019 events. There are no refunds and this event will happen rain or shine.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded in each category for race winners
Top team fundraising prizes will be awarded in each category
Awards will be presented at the closing ceremony of the Indy Cycling Challenge
Can my friends and family come watch?
Yes, each cyclist receives 2 Guest Passes and additional passes are $25 each - more information will be sent soon.
What types of bikes are allowed?
Two-wheeled bicycles only. Child carriers, trailers, incumbent bikes or motorized vehicles of any kind are prohibited for safety reasons.
Triathalon/time trial bikes will be allowed however riding in the aero position when in groups or passing other cyclists is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
What if my bike needs a repair?
Bike repairs will be offered on site free of charge for all participants (replacement parts must be purchased by participant if required). Services provided by Velofix.
