What Is Man & Woman Of The Year?

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society‘s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a 10-week philanthropic competition for leaders in local communities across the US, and in 2019 we are bringing the campaign to Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Candidates and their teammates raise funds for LLS in honour of local blood cancer survivors. The title "Man or Woman of the Year" is awarded to the candidate whose team raises the most funds during the competition. The top man & woman candidate in the country are awarded with the national title.

Kickoff Celebration:  Thursday, March 28th, exclusive breakfast at LLSC from 7:30 am to 9:00 am

This celebration officially marks the beginning of the fundraising period.

The Mid Point Event:  Thursday, April 25th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center

At the halfway mark, candidates come together to acknowledge and celebrate the progress already made and re-energize to focus on goals ahead.

Grand Finale:  Tuesday, June 4th from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Bar Georges

The announcement of the Man & Woman of the Year winners is a celebration of all the candidates efforts as a collective class. Surrounded by team members and friends, they enjoy food, cocktails, music and an outstanding auction.

The funds raised through LLS's Man & Woman of the Year are used:

  • For continuing research of lifesaving therapies like targeted therapies and immunotherapies that are saving thousands of lives.
  • For blood cancer information, education and support.
  • To support patients in their communities through LLS chapters.

The Boy & Girl Of The Year

The Boy & Girl of the Year are local blood cancer survivors who provide inspiration and motivation to candidates during their campaign, as well as support for their appeals. The candidates compete in honor of them.
