Team Fundraising

 

Over the years Lupus Ontario has found that a very effective way to maximize the funds raised is to create a team.  Just think if you can put together of team of 5 people who raise $200 each, you will have raised $1,000 for lupus patient support programs and research!

Here are some ideas on how you can go about creating your team and get them raising money.

1.    Tell your family, friends, co-workers and members of any groups you belong to, that
you are participating in the Walk for Lupus Ontario and ask them to join your team. You can share your reasons for participating in the walk and can also use the ‘Why I Walk for Lupus’ document on the website. Remember that team members can raise money for the cause without necessarily having to complete the walk.
2.   Decide on a team name and then add your team information to the
walkforlupusontario.org website.  You can also create a page on Facebook for your team.
3.   Brainstorm fundraising ideas within your team.  Also refer your team members to the
Fund Raising Tips and Tools document on this walkforlupusontario.org website.
4.   Encourage your team members to use the walkforlupusontario.org website to ask for donations.  On-line donations make it easy for you and your team to monitor progress and also provide donors with instant tax receipts.
5.   Touch base with your team members on a regular basis and send them encouraging
messages.
6.   Encourage your team members to share their success stores to encourage other team members.
7.   Consider creating a distinguishing look for your team e.g.  Team –t-shirts, hats, wigs, or any other ideas you can come up with.
8.   If you are feeling really energetic and want to work on your fitness level, you could even considering doing some practice walks with your team members.  It could become a
new healthy habit!!
9.   HAVE FUN!!
