PARTICIPANT GUIDE
Dear participants,
We are just a few days away from the IRIC Great Challenges Against Cancer, which will take place this Sunday morning, September 10. Here is some information you should know in order to be properly prepared.
Directions to Great Challenges Against Cancer 2017
For cyclists
Start time: 7:30am
Start line and finish line: the IRIC main entrance
Your participant’s kit will include:
- Cycling bottle
- Cycling jersey
- Handlebar plate + clips (mandatory for identification purposes for access to the marked-out circuit)
- Breakfast coupon
- Draw coupon
You can book a wood frame Picolo bike for one lap
For runners (5 or 10 km) and walkers
Start time: 8:00am
Start line and finish line: the IRIC main entrance
- Cycling bottle
- Technical T-shirt
- Number bib (mandatory for identification purposes for access to the marked-out circuit)
- Breakfast coupon
- Draw coupon
For all participants
Arrival time
We suggest that you arrive at the IRIC 45 to 60 minutes prior to the start of the activity for which you are registered
- Start time for cyclists: 7:30am
- Start time for walkers and runners: 8:00am
Transportation
Because certain arteries will be closed off for the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Montréal, we strongly recommend that you use public transportation.
A pay parking lot is however accessible on campus.
Please find attached a map to help you get situated, as well as an overview of the route.
Check-in upon arrival
It is mandatory to check-in upon your arrival at the registration desk at the IRIC (main entrance: principale: 2950, chemin de Polytechnique, Pavillon Marcelle-Coutu, H3T 1J4) to register.
We’ll hand you your participant’s kit upon presentation of an ID card.
Picking up your participant’s kit before the event
You can pick up your kit on Friday, September 8, between 1:00pm and 8:00pm, at the IRIC (main entrance: 2950, chemin de Polytechnique, Pavillon Marcelle-Coutu, H3T 1J4). We’ll hand it over to you upon presentation of an ID card. On-site registration on September 10
You can register for the event on-site.
- Just go to the IRIC main entrance
- You’ll need to fill out a form. Everything will be processed later.
§ The following methods of payment are accepted: cash, MasterCard, American Express, Visa.
Safekeeping – bags and bikes
You can safely leave your bags with us (knapsacks, handbags, etc.) for the duration of your activity. Just go to the IRIC main entrance.
Bikes will be numbered and watched by volunteers during the breakfast.
Completion of sports activities at 9:30am
Runners taking part in the 5 and 10 km must be done by 9:30am in order to get their time.
Support for cyclists will be provided until the sweeper vehicle returns to the IRIC at 9:30am. Any cyclist still on the course after 9:30am may be directed off the circuit by Grands Prix Cyclistes security staff or SPVM policemen.
Breakfast
Following the activities, you are invited to a breakfast that will be held in the IRIC’s Angora (main entrance). Breakfast is included in your registration. *You can buy an extra breakfast coupon at a cost of $10 (cash only).
On-site donations
Donations can be made on-site.
- Just go to the IRIC (main entrance) to do so.
- You’ll need to fill out a form providing your information. Everything will be processed later.
You can also make a donation in cash or by cheque. *For all donations of $20 or more you will receive a tax receipt later on.
Purchasing items sporting the Great Challenges colours
T-shirts, jerseys and cycling bottles will be sold on-site to benefit the IRIC.
- Just go to the IRIC (main entrance).
- The only method of payment accepted is cash.

How to raise funds?

- Ask for a precise amount by suggesting one!
- Thank your supporters personnally!

- Matching donation programs: check with your employer if it offers a matching donations program for charity donations that could allow you to double or triple the amount collected!
How to make a donation?
In accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency, a charitable organization can only issue an official tax receipt to the actual donor. For this reason, you must provide us with the name of the donor, the amount of his/her donation, and his/her complete mailing address.

Cheque made to the order of “Université de Montréal/IRIC”.
- Print and complete the donations form.
Tax receipt: terms and conditions
For every donation of $20 and more, a tax receipt can be issued. It is important to share the necessary information to issue the tax receipt:
- Indicate if it is a personnal or corporate donation
- Your name and last name
- The name of the company, if it applies
- Your complete address (personal or corporate)
